Love Can/Food Drive

The Appalachian Outreach Food Pantry, which serves hundreds of families in the Jefferson County area, is dangerously low on food.

Here at JCHS, we know THE PATRIOT WAY  is to help when we can.

show your love by bringing in non-perishable food items

and leaving them in the front office of your campus.

This could include:  canned foods, peanut butter, pasta, macaroni & cheese, cereal, or boxed meals.

February is

Random Acts of Kindness

The JCHS Patriot Events Council is asking for every Patriot to make February “A Month of Kindness” here at our school.

Each school day in February will have a different “challenge” of the day to promote unity and kindness school-wide—and even in our community!

Show completion of your challenges and join the celebration on social media by using the hashtag

FEBRUARY 5: Pick up a piece of trash on campus.

FEBRUARY 6: Let someone go ahead of you in the lunch line.

FEBRUARY 7: Tell a cafeteria worker you appreciate them.

FEBRUARY 8: Hold the door open for someone behind you.

FEBRUARY 9: Invite someone new to sit with you at lunch.

Career and Technical Education Logo

February is National Career & Technical Education Month,

so each week we will be announcing a different fact about this exciting field of study

for students at Jefferson County High School.

February 5

At JCHS, students can take some Career & Technical Education courses for college credit.

February 6

Career & Technical Education courses combine academic rigor with hands-on, project-based learning.

February 7

The more students participate in career and technical student organizations, the higher their academic motivation, academic engagement, grades, career self-efficacy, college aspirations and employability skills.

February 8

Students who take advanced CTE courses in high school see higher earnings, including a 3.2 percent wage increase for CTE concentrators.

 February 9

Skilled trades workers, accounting and finance staff, nurses and technicians are some of the top jobs employers are having trouble filling in the U.S., and CTE plays a critical role in training workers in these areas.
